Welcome to BeautifulVista!

If you're looking for great Bicycle Rides in El Dorado County, click on the "Bike Rides" menu item to the left.  We're adding more rides constantly... over 30 different rides are now available...  all with maps complete with directions, distance and elevation profiles.  Best of all... every map is free to download, print and/or send to your fellow cyclists!

For Wineries, we've selected some local favorites that rival the finest Napa/Sonoma wineries.  Most (if not all) are still run by families, not corporations (unlike another county we won't name)... and the local wineries don't charge you to sample their wines.  We've even included some downloadable maps to help you get started!

The Photos page offers a wide variety of photographs, some of the bike rides documented on this site (so you can get an idea of what the rides look like), recent group bike rides, photos of the outdoors in this area, and photos of family / friends.

Wherever you are in this site, you can always click on the BeautifulVista banner photo at the top to return to this home page.

If you're not familiar with El Dorado county, it lies between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe in Northern California.  The lower elevations tend to be a mixture of small towns, oak covered hills, and grasslands.  The upper elevations give way to Pine trees, granite mountains, and cool clear lakes.  Just about everything else that you can think of lies in-between.  The county center is in Placerville (where many of the bike rides listed here start) and is less than an hour's drive from Sacramento.

Weather can vary as much as the elevations.  The west side of the county is lower in elevation (below 4,000 ft), which is hot in the summer, but mild in the winter.  The east side is cooler in the summer, but snowy and cold in the winter.  Basic rule of thumb is:  If you don't like the temperature - go uphill or downhill to find what you desire!

We hope you enjoy your visit here.  If you have any thoughts, please email us (use the Contact link to the left).  Thanks for visiting us!
